Granny’s Sugar Crisps
Ingredients :
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1 cup shortening
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
water for dipping
Sugar for dipping
Directions :
1. Preheat oven 350° F. Cream together sugars, shortening, egg and vanilla; stir in flour, salt and cream of tartar.
2. Roll in 1 inch balls, dip in water, dip in sugar.
3. Place sugar side up on baking sheet. Dent with finger.
4. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are golden. Cool on rack.
